This Black History Month, I’m proud to share my journey as the founder of Kevia—a Black woman-owned brand dedicated to ethical sourcing, sustainability, and timeless craftsmanship. Since launching in 2006, my mission has been to create high-quality, accessible jewelry that enhances personal style while staying true to sustainable values. With over one million pieces sold and seven-figure annual sales—an achievement reached by only 2% of women-owned businesses—Kevia is proof that purpose-driven entrepreneurship can thrive.
Jewelry is more than adornment; it’s a reflection of who we are. That’s why I design pieces that evolve with personal style, ensuring they remain relevant and cherished. My background as an environmental activist continues to shape every collection, keeping sustainability at the heart of my work.
Being a Black woman entrepreneur comes with challenges, but it also brings the opportunity to inspire and uplift others. My hope is to encourage more women—especially Black women—to build businesses rooted in passion and purpose. This Black History Month, let’s celebrate, support, and amplify Black-owned brands.
